He graduated from Ankara Yenimahalle Mustafa Kemal High School in 1996, and from Çağ University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations with a scholarship in 2003. He completed his master’s degree in the Department of International Relations of the Atılım University, Institute of Social Sciences with a thesis titled “The Future of US Power”, and his doctorate in the Department of International Security of the Security Sciences Institute with a thesis titled “Perception of Islam in the New Security Understanding of the United States”. After his undergraduate graduation, Murat Cihangir worked as a researcher at Think Tank organizations such as Policy Center and Ankara Global Research Center. He participated in various scientific research programs in the UK in 2010 (The University of Salford- Manchester) and 2013 (BLS London). He is the author of the books “US Perception of Islam” and “The Future of American Power”. He works in the fields of International Security, American Foreign Policy, and the Middle East. He started working as a research assistant at Batman University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 2012, and became Assistant Professor in 2014 and Associate Professor in 2021. Murat Cihangir, who continues his duty as a faculty member in the Department of International Relations and is one of the founders of the Batman Strategic Research Center, is married and has two children.
